Heck is a former brothel in Bushwick that has since turned to into a residential house. These pictures are from a day that I visited Heck to meet a friend who wanted to help me with a photo shoot. She had a large basement we could shoot in. Little did I know, it was the same house I saw a basement punk show in when I was in college. At the time, the house was called "The Mansion" and was housing several punk bands. It was a headquarters for the hardcore punk scene in Bushwick, a scene that has all but dissipated due to gentrification. Now it was an art collective, but remnants of that time were still left in the basement. Amplifiers, speakers, and instruments left behind were littered everywhere, belonging to no one in particular. The picture my friend helped me take in her basement is the first one to the left. During the shoot I lied in this basement covered in fake blood, wondering what other crazy things happened there in the 200 years that the house has been standing. In exchange for her help taking my photo, I took boudoir photos of her in the house's backyard. You can see a couple of these photos in the photo gallery in addition to some snapshots I took inside.
